first entry to the page is of our visit to Germany. We where invited to
play at the 8th Army HQ. {The Desert Rats} near Hannover. What we didn't realize
at the time that the camp is in Bergen -Belsen, half a mile away from the concentration
camp. We played in "The Round House" which was the SS Headquarters for
the camp, strange stuff. Here's a few of the snaps we took.

summer day when we went. The wierd thing was that there was no breeze inside the
camp and no animals, no birds, an eerie stillness like nothing I've experienced

lastly there is a rebuilding of part of the camp taking place and some excavation
work has been done. In a small clearing in the woods we came across this, a rusting
German Soldiers helmet tied to a wire mesh along with other artifacts such as
sardine tins and bottle tops and hand wash bowls. The
most remarkable thing was that when we left the camp and returned to the car park,
we noticed that we could hear bird song again, the camp grounds where silent! |

a trip to Israel. They played at The King Soloman Hotel in Elat for three weeks,
all expenses paid. The work load was hard as they performed three one hour sets
every night of their 21 night stay. I was told in confidence that their bar bill
alone was around £1000. Old habits die hard!1000.
