Welcome to Commanders Corner.
A monthly diary of Badness adventures 'on the road' written by The Commander himself........................ in his own particular way.
'The 'Biggest Loser' finds new Vietnamese restaurant for contestants............
American Golfer Phil Mickelson finally gets a Hole in One.......................
......and new line in babies proving very popular at LiDL
Finally the world famous 'Commanders Corner' returns to your screens, apologies for January's missing Corner my friends but we tend to have a few days off during the first month of the year and also a couple of us found ourselves incontinent........sorry on the Continent.......I was in Rome whilst Jamie found himself in Amsterdam, but not to worry.... like a famous singer who used to dress in silver said "I'ts Good To Be Back" !!!
Well the Xmas gigs in December went really well as we found ourselves at various venues all over the UK including an RAF Camp a Football Ground a Holiday Park and a good old Working Mens Club...eh up Duck !! The majority of the gigs were Shomaddymaddy shows and it was these alter ego's who found themselves at the Corton Coastal Holiday Park near Lowestoft in Suffolk in the early part of the month. One of the regular Warner Break Hotels we perform at, the Corton did'nt fail to live up to its reputation as a great gig and once again the hospitality shown to us was second to none, this was quickly followed by a welcome return to Butlins in Minehead were we performed two shows which got us back in the swing of things down there ready for our season at all three Butlins camps this year.
I can't remember where they were but on our travels in December Matt found his favourite Shop & Pub ever...............................................
With a trip down to Llanharran Rugby Club in South Wales on Boxing night and the Working Mens Club in Hayes in Middlesex on New Years Eve we finished 2011 off with two gigs in two foreign countries and......................what's that? Hayes is not in a foreign country???? well i'm sorry but since it started costing £200 to get into Hayes now for the bus because of the Low Emmision Zone the greater London area is now classed as abroad at Badness HQ.......so there.
You know we get asked quite a few questions about the Tour Bus whilst we're away and believe it or not one of the most frequently asked is..............how and where do we dispose of the wee wee that is stored in the waste tank under the toilet..??? Seriously !!! Well if you really want to know, all over the country there are special facilities where you can drive in and dispose of the waste in a safe and controlled disinfected area......we like to call them 'Piss Dumps'.... anyway i know its a bit difficult to imagine what they look like and unfortunately your not allowed to take pictures of these facilities but i've found a photo that might give you some idea what it's like.....................
As i mentioned earlier we like to take a few
days off in January as like most
businesses it's one of the 'quieter' months
of the year but before we had a bit of R&R
our first gig of the new year took us across
the Pennines to the Derby Road Labour
Club in Bolton, (i wonder if there
is a Bolton Road Labour Club in Derby?).
It was a private booking for a joint 40th
& 60th birthday party and as we
performed once again as Shomaddymaddy
it proved to be the perfect band for both
sets of guests and the year started off with
a right bang. After a fortnight off we
headed down to the Highfield Social Club
in Bicester, Oxfordshire to perform both
shows to a sold out crowd, obviously we
din't know it was a sell out till we got there but to be honest we did have a good idea it would be because it has been the last three times we've performed there !!!
Final gig in January was at the Brookhouse Pub back in Hayes in Middlesex, once again as i mentioned earlier Hayes in now within the Low Emmision Zone which surrounds London and for those of you that are not aware of it.....basically if your vehicle does'nt have a specific exhaust fitted that complies to a certain European standered......it costs £200 to get into London now !!!! We've got our own name for it..............BOLLOCKS !! Anyway we had'nt been down to the Brookhouse for a couple of years but we did remember it had the smallest stage in the world, seriously its that small I've seen bigger Chalfonts hanging from my arse !!! but despite this the gig was brilliant, the place was full and a big thanks to the gaffer for letting us 'hook' the bus up to the outside electric sockets.
Gigs of note this month include a double show of The Madds & Bads at The New Walton Club in Hull Friday 3rd really looking forward to that one and back down in Minehead Butlins as Badness on the 10th so be good to catch up with all the sound crew there.
Well unfortunately that wraps up Februarys edition of Commanders Corner, hope you've enjoyed it and most of all had a little giggle cos as well as getting dark thats what it's all about.....at the end of the day. Shalom.
